OpenAI Privacy
By default, MakerTime uses a local LLM (llama3), and this section does not apply.
Screenshots with potentially sensitive information will be sent to OpenAI
⚠️ If you are installing on a laptop you use for work, you should check with your IT department first to make sure this app doesn’t violate your company security policy.
MakerTime runs in the background and takes screenshots of the currently active window. Some of these screenhots will be sent to OpenAI GPT Vision for analysis.
According to the OpenAI data security policy:

Please see our Enterprise Privacy page for information on how we handle business data.
Since MakerTime is using the OpenAI API platform, your screenshot data will not be used in training OpenAI models.
🚨 Some of the collected screenshots that are sent to OpenAI may contain highly sensitive content such as:
- Financial information
- Passwords
- Personal information that can be used for identity theft (Social Security Numbers, etc)
Data security
- ⛁ Any collected screenshots will only be temporarily saved to your hard drive, and then immediately deleted a few seconds later after they are analyzed. By default the temporary screenshot storage is in the
/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/ai.makertime
directory. - 🤖 If OpenAI is configured, any collected screenshots will only be transmitted directly to the OpenAI API endpoint:
https://api.openai.com
, and not to any other server (directly or as an intermediary). - 📄 No logs or any other usage data will be transmitted to any server.
To verify that no unexpected network connections are being made you can run a firewall like Radio Silence or Lulu
